Laser Cutting Machine Maintenance: The Weekly Checklist
What to check weekly and monthly to keep a fiber laser cutting accurate and avoid costly failures.
Most machine failures are not sudden. They are neglected consumables and dirty optics that finally caused a costly stop.
Daily
Check nozzle condition, protective lens, gas pressure and the chiller temperature. A dirty lens absorbs beam energy and degrades the cut before it fails.
Weekly
Clean the focusing lens and the protective window, check the cutting head for spatter, verify the bed alignment and the exhaust filter pressure.
Monthly
Check chiller water quality and filters, inspect belts and guides, verify the laser source coolant level, and review the parameter library for drift.
The cost of skipping
A blown lens costs little; a burnt cutting head costs thousands, and a damaged source is a major repair. Maintenance is cheap insurance.
A deeper maintenance schedule is published in the maintenance guide.
